Middle of nowhere!

Hello from 'the middle of nowhere'. I know I need some major equipment if I'm going to get any signal in the first place, but what can I expect if I do it all right?
I don't want to spend a fortune and have poor reception - don't know the capabilities of these systems - can only remember the snowy images from childhood - that won't do.
I live 10 miles west of Sebeka, MN 56477. Before the switch to digital I did get some weak signals from Fargo with an inexpensive GE indoor antenna, but nothing at all after. Appreciate your help!
