Looking for troubleshooting help

Postby seraphem on Wed Apr 30, 2008 7:57 pm

I have a Sony Wega KF-50WE610 tv (http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model- ... =KF50WE610 is the manual). I just purchased the TERK TV5 antenna and am having problems getting any HD channels to show up. I've picked up some local stations but not a single HD. Does anyone have any recommendations on things I could try? I've read through the manual and didn't see anything mentioning changing modes to get to high def or anything.

Thanks!

At the risk of sounding silly, I just want to ask if you're sure that your local stations are broadcasting a HD signal. It's possible that they are broadcasting a digital and an anolog signal, without broadcasting in HD.

I checked Antennaweb.org and it shows I have 6 stations in range. I'm not sure how to confirm beyond that site if they are HD?

Can you post the table your antennaweb channels here?

how to confirm beyond that site if they are HD

There is an asterisk in the first column designating DTV channels. DTV does not necessarily mean HDTV, it may be a lower resolution format - SDTV or EDTV.

Here is a screen capture of the antennaweb report: http://clip2net.com/page/m0/169268

Could it be a problem with how I'm using my TV? I looked through the manual and didn't see anything about how to access digital channels. I followed the Antenna buying guide and I'm pretty sure I have a tuner built in since I've got 3 RF jacks in the back?

All right, here is the answer to your problem.

http://esupport.sony.com/perl/news-item ... =KF50WE610

The KF-50WE610 model doesn't have an ATSC tuner. It only has an analog tuner. That's why you receive the analog channels but not the digital ones.

I dont't know if this applies to all/everywhere, but I've noticed that my HD Chs seem to be on the #.1 tier and the SD's from #.2 to #.5
Is this common, or just in my area ?

Have a good Day ! :)
