Looking for a recommendation in Hermosa Beach, California

Postby padoshi316 on Fri Apr 23, 2010 12:38 pm

Hi,
New to this forum so "hello."

I recently moved out here and was looking into tv service. Don't feel like paying for tv service and so I thought I would try the antenna route. I'm living in an apartment that's on the third floor. There is a fourth floor above me and there are other buildings around me but they are about 30 feet away. Was wondering if an antenna would work off of my balcony.

This site: http://www.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/maps/ makes it appear that I should have pretty good reception but I do know that I have other buildings around me and I doubt I could do a roof installation...

What do you all think?

It appears that for most channels, my antenna will need to face northeast... which may not bode well for me as my balcony faces west and the antenna would then have to point back towards my apartment.

I think that you have answered your own question: all you can do is to get an antenna and experiment, but don't raise your expectations too high.

Hey I am getting approval to place an antenna on the roof. Line of sight should be relatively uninterrupted. What do you think of my chances to get good tv now?

If you can get an antenna on the roof, you'll be fine: get back when you know what you can do...
