I haven't heard much about the lava-2605. It comes with a built-in rotator which is a nice feature, and it sells under $50, and that looks like a good deal for an amplified antenna + rotator combo.

The point is this. If you aim for Freeport and Rockford stations you don't need a rotator. If you are hoping to pull Madison, WI and Chicago stations, then you do need a rotator, but you also need a much more powerful antenna. I don't believe Lava is capable of picking TV stations 60-70 miles away, it is not a deep fringe antenna. However, any deep fringe antenna with an amplifier and rotator is over your $100 budget.

shoker1, I have a Lava 2605 and I am 60-65 miles from both cities that I get the hd channels from, some of then at 100% signal most at 70+, have it mounted about 4 feet higher than the roof line. Very light weight and small so it is easy to handle, needs some assembly.
It also has a small remote that you can turn the antenna from your chair, and it is not to expensive.
Hope this helps you.
