According to TVFool I should be able to get everything I want with an indoor antenna. I've tried several antennas, and I can't get one to work downstairs properly, however I do get everything on our bedroom tv upstairs. I really don't want to mount outside as its a rental, and there's a chance we could be moving soon. Maneuvering in the attic is out of the question, let alone the task of running the cable. Apparently, the buildings in the development must be too close together, which is blocking signals.

The thing is I bought one of the DTVPal DVR receivers as we like recording shows (the main thing that's kept us paying too much for cable). But I need an antenna I'm not going to have to adjust as I may not be here to adjust it when something records (the whole point of recording shows, right?). Yes, the antenna upstairs picks up everything without adjustment.

It seems everything I want (major networks) is all in the same general direction, but I had to carry the antenna over to the window, and even then had to adjust it, especially for NBC. The tv is in the corner of the living room, actually in a cabinet with other stereo components, and the antenna would actually be almost to the ceiling. Is there an antenna that can work inside, picking up every channel without adjusting?

The antenna that works fine in the bedroom upstairs is an RCA ANT1450 (looks like a 8.5x11 white book), but it didn't work so well downstairs. Downstairs I also tried a Phillips MANT940 (looks more like a paperback) which worked the best, then tried something from Radio Shack Model: 15-1892 that looked like the Starship Enterprise (I was disappointed it didn't work out as it looked so cool on top of the entertainment center).

The sooner I can get things running properly, the sooner we stop paying too much for cable! Thanks for any help!!!

I wish that I could give you some simple advice, but, indoor antennas are a crapshoot, my best suggestion is to get whatever indoor antenna that you have as close to an outside window as you can.
