How do I know which indoor antenna to buy?
I live in Atlanta GA - a few miles from downtown in a condo/townhouse. Since Im in a condo, I cannot put an outdoor antenna on the roof. So I have to use an indoor antenna...But I don't know what Im looking for. Is it just a guess? For example, I saw three different, highly-rated antennas on Amazon but how do I choose? It can't be just aesthetics?
Winegard SS-3000, RCAAnt1650R (looks nicest), Terk HDTVa....
Does it depend how far you live from downtown - or the towers (and how do you find where the towers are?)...And if you currently have a standard cable or satellite receiver (like I do) in the antenna/cable input (sorry not a tech person) - do you then need to buy an a/b switch or is there something else?
I just want to try to see if I can get some of the HD channels to come in but don't know what to do - or how to do it. Just plugging the TV in , Im getting 3 local channels reliably and consistently but there are more out there and if I can get them for a $20-50 antenna, Id do that...but I have no idea how to choose one...or what Im looking for. It seems that each one works differently depending on what city you're in, and where the towers are...so is there no way to really tell which one to buy?
Do you have to be pointing in a certain direction?
