I am moving into a 12 year old home. My plan is to attach an outdoor HDTV antenna onto the J-mount from the old Direct TV dish on the roof. I will run the coaxial cable down from the roof to the "cable" box where the coaxial cable is distributed to several rooms in the house with coaxial wall outlets.
The home has been pre-wired (in the drywall) with 2 HDMI cables which have one end exiting BESIDE the fireplace by an entertainment center and the other end exiting OVER the fireplace where a large screen TV is to be placed. The only coaxial outlet is behind the entertainment center at the side of the fireplace. Obviously the original set-up was the Direct TV cable attached to the cable box that then used the HDMI to attach to the TV.
My question is: Is it possible to attach the coaxial cable from the roof antenna to an input on a home theater receiver in the entertainment center beside the fireplace, and then have the HDMI output from the receiver send the antenna UHF signal to the HDTV hanging over the fireplace? ...if so, which input can I use on the home theater receiver? ...if not, is there a converter of some type, or does the coaxial have to directly connect to the TV to receive the signal? I want to avoid having the coaxial cable exposed hanging from the wall outlet like a clothesline attaching to the TV over the fireplace.
THANKS FOR THE HELP
