Anyway, I have no idea what this Blu-Ray stuff is about. What is it?! Do I have to go out and get one of those things along with a converter now?! WIll I still be able to watch my movies with my DVD player?! Is this Blu-Ray thing happening because of the digital changeover?!
I am so confused. Sorry for being so out of the loop...I am just trying to understand all of this technology and stuff. Thanks!
Don't worry Kim, you're not the only person confused about this stuff. I'll keep this answer as short and simple as I can.
Blu-Ray is simply the natural evolution of movie formats. DVD replaced VHS, now we have Blu-Ray trying to enter the market to replace DVD. There really is no reason to make the switch unless you just want the better quality. DVD is easily the most distributed movie format and likely will be here for a long, long time still.
With that being said, the best way to compare the 2 formatsis this. The DVD is somewhat like getting a brand new Honda Accord. It's nice and reliable, but nothing really stands out. Blu-Ray is like a new Ferrari. It's a top of the line, flashy car that you can use to show off to other people or just simply enjoy for yourself.
