HELP...Too many antennas

Postby scfaysal on Wed Dec 31, 2008 11:25 am

Hello,

I live in 77382. Live approximately 45 miles from the tv stations. I have a sumsung plasma tv (pn50a650). I have dish network with a dvr but i dont think it has a hd tuner.

I am looking to get FREE hdtv signal without paying more to DISH network...they want another arm and a leg. :D

I was interested in an attic antenna because it is easIER to install...i think. plus i dont know how to roof mount and dont know how much cost to get somebody to do it :?:

i was looking at the : CLEAR STREAM 4 - [b]C4 - Outdoor Long-Range Digital TV (DTV) Antenna for my needs and was wanting your ADVICE on it. will it do the job from my attic (no metal, just typical roofing). my area has lots of pinetrees.

is there any other atenna you recommend? Do i HAVE to go with roof mount to get the best picture?

PLEASE HELP.

thank you

Your TV set DOES have a digital tuner, so you will be able †o get HD over-†he-air signals from an antenna. I don't recommend attic installations for antennas beause, like indoor antennas, there are too many variables to predict success. Use the directions in the links I have provided below, they will show you that it's not hard to install an antenna outdoors: eave monut antenna brackets don't require that you actually climb a roof, but the antenna's exposure to the outside will insure that you get good, unpbstructed reception. As for which antenna to use, I suggest using a Winegard HD-7694 VHF-high-band-UHF antenna combination antenna plus a Winegard HDP-269 preampifier, which will allow you to power up to 4 TV sets using a splitter without compromising oyur reception. The AntennasDirect Clearstream antenna is very weak on VHF, and you will have 3 VHF stations in Houston after Feb, 17, 2009, so I suggest using an antenna with good VHF as well as UHF reception.

You can try the antenna without a preamplifier, and it may work well, but you will need one if you plan to run multiple TV sets.
