HDTV in Brooklyn

Postby beatmix01 on Fri Aug 13, 2010 11:17 am

I am about to cut ties to my cable company, Thank god, and I am looking for a good antenna for my apt. I do not have roof access, however I do have a fire escape a few feet from my television. The Terk HDTVa Indoors looks like it will fit my needs well, however is there a small Outdoor UHF/VHF that will perform better than the Terk? The difference in location between indoor and outdoor will be no more than 8-10 feet.

Sure I know its against fire code to have anything on the fire escape, however it will be our little secret.

Thanks!

You are likely to be frustrated by the HDTVi, especially with WABC, WPIX and WNET. I wouldn't recommend that you do anything illegal, either. I believe that your best bet would be to ask your landlord for permission to mount an antenna on the roof, and run the cable down to your apartment. An AntennaCraft HBU-22 is cheap, available at Radio Shack, and won't offend anyone if it's mounted on your roof.
