HDTV and Dishnetwork dual tuner

I have dish dual tuner DVR. the TV 2 out is modulated on channel 43 and distributed to 3 tvs. One of those TVs is a HDTV on the second floor. I took an old powered rabit ears and connected it in the attic about 8ft away from the tv and was able to pull in all of the digital channels (i am located at 75065 in TX). My problem is that when i use a combiner and combine the modulated channel 43 and the OTA signals, I get a lot of noise on channel 43 on the HDTV. When I unplug the power source from the antenna the noise goes away but i lose the digital channels. My thoughts are that the powered antenna is putting too much signal or that the modulated channel too weak with the antenna powered up. Any thoughts
