Got RadioShack 15-1892 -- but no reception :(

Postby wy2be on Mon Mar 02, 2009 8:48 pm

This is the first time I'm dabbling with TV Antennas - I decided to go this route after I saw great reception at a friend's house.

After reading great reviews of the RadioShack 15-1892 (UFO) - I got one for myself. I plugged in the coax to my 32" HDTV and powered it on.

When I started the 'scan' on my TV - I didn't see a single channel being listed!!! :o

I did the same thing process a couple of times, but met with no luck. I live very close to New York City and had expected good reception, etc.

So here are my specifics:
* Live in zip code 07302
* There are some tall(er) buildings all around
* There is a pole with a lot of power cables on it
* I placed the antenna at a height near my window
* According to AntennaWeb I have a couple of UHF channels in my area

Can some Pros / veterans help please?

go into the menu on your TV set, and turn the "cable-antenna" setting to 'antenna" and retry your scan

I am deeply suspicious of that antenna: you may have gotten a defective antenna: take it back to Radio Shack and have them test it for you.
