Well, first of all, you can not have HDTV quality on an analog television.

But I am quite sure that the set top box you've got from your cables provider has a standard analog video output that you can connect to your analog TV set. You don't need a converter.

Let me clarify. We have one HDTV flatscreen television and four analog televisions in our house. We are getting HD to the house by cable. It shows up on the HDTV because there's a $14 per month DVR attached to it. I would like to be able to watch the HD channels on other TVs whether the picture is perfect or not....I mean, the toddlers are not that concerned about the picture quality, but like the shows.

You can not connect the cable directly to an HD converter and then to the TV if that's what you are asking. Your cables set top box ($14 DVR) works as a descrambler - converters do not have this functionality. Also, frequency range of HD converters only goes up to ch. 69 and this is not sufficient for cables TV.

What you can do is take few more DVRs from your cables provider and connect them to your analog sets.

We had one converter box with a DVR when we had DishNetwork. I was able to watch the DVR programming on all our tvs by splitting the signal after DVR and running the cable to a splitter. From the splitter, to 4 tvs. To control the playback, I used a remote extender form radio shack.

I believe once the signal comes from the converter you could do the same type of setup.
