converter boxes with timer to set VCR

Postby newdtvuser on Sun Nov 16, 2008 2:21 pm

I noticed that the DISH (Echostar) TR-40CRA, DTVPAL and Zinwell ZAT-9700 have a timer to set the VCR. Does this eliminate the need to leave the TV on, converter box on and set to the proper channel ?

The converter is connected directly to the VCR, correct? If so, you don't have to leave the TV on. I am not familiar with the converter you have, but typically, you can turn a converter and a VCR "off". They are not really "off" but in a "stand by" mode.
When the timer goes off, the equipment will wake up and start recording.
