Can I use HDTV antenna for analog TV?

Hi: I am in the Stone Age when it comes to new TV technology. I have an analog TV that does not have cable, so my reception is not very good. Someone told it might help to get an HDTV antenna to improve reception. I would like a 2nd opinion (or more). Is it possible to connect an HDTV antenna to an analog TV? Thanks a lot !!
