best antenna - NE Arkansas

Postby jakkwb on Tue Sep 08, 2009 9:05 pm

Hello all,

Just got a nice new LCD TV. I live in zip 72476 in the flat lands - Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

Is it possible for me to pick up signal with any kind of outdoor from Memphis - roughly 100+ miles away?

Thank you,

Jakkwb

If you had a LOT of altitude, like 80-100', you might have a shot at Memphis, but you'll need a huge antenna like a Winegard HD-8200U and a preamplifier like a Winegard HDA-269 and a rotator like a Channel Master 9521a.

I have a 50 foot triangular antenna tower at 500 feet above sea level in Ash Flat, AR. Most of the HD channels are to my SW and are at a lower sea level but to the NE and NW those areas rise in elevation.
I am wondering if I can build a homemade Omni-directional antenna using the tower? I mean lining all three sides with antenna elements all the way up the tower then connecting to them and splicing all the wires together through a transformer to get realy good reception. I am trying to get as many channels as possible. I would like to see if can get Memphis,TN, St. Louis, MO and Little Rock, AR.

Any one think it's possible?
