best amplified omnidirectional?

Postby tungsten on Thu Jan 01, 2009 5:53 pm

Hiya -
I live in Meriden CT zip 06451. AntennaWeb shows 19 stations all within 10-17 miles, half N of me and half SSE of me, and I'm at one of the highest points in town. I'd really rather not get a multitude of components, so I would love any suggestions for a single outdoor/roof antenna that will be connected to only one HDTV.
Thanks for the input - T

Sorry, but all omnidirectional antennas are virtually worthless. Most of your stations are north of you in Farmington and Avon, which you can pick up with a simple UHF antenna like a Channel Master 4221, which is cheap and easy to mount. All you have from New Haven is WTNH-DT, ABC, on digital channel 10 and WCTX-DT, the MyTV station on digital channel 39 which is on the same tower as WTNH-DT. Try adding an Antennacraft HBU-22 antenna to the mast and connect it with a Pico-Macom UVFJ joiner, and aim the Antennacraft antenna at the Hamden tower: You should get everything that you are looking for perfectly without using any amplification. All the Hartford stations are on UHF, so you should be just fine!
