Any options for no service according to antennaweb?

Postby charmschool on Sat May 02, 2009 10:02 am

We just recently purchased a vacation cabin in zip code 30540 (address is 4195 Zion Hill Road, Ellijay, GA). It's rural, mountainous, we're in a small valley, and the area is heavily forrested. According to antennaweb, there's no service. We know NOTHING about TV signals, antennas, etc. We have a newer TV with a built-in digital converter. Is there any type of antenna (amplified or whatever) that might allow us to get any stations, or are we just out of luck?

Well, you didn't make this one easy...LOL! According to TVFool.com, you have several weak VHF digital stations available to you, but they are VERY weak, and will require a large VHF and UHF antenna . ABC, CBS and NBC should be available from Chattanooga, TN if you go to the right lengths to install an antenna. Nothing less than the very best components will do for you.

My deep-fringe prescription is as follows:
A Winegard YA-1713 VHF high-band yagi PLUS an AntennasDirect 91XG mounted as high as you can possibly mount it on your roof: 30' from the ground is my MINIMUM suggestion, but higher is better. I would also suggest a Channel Master Titan 7777 preamplifier, which will combine the signals from the two antennas into one coaxial cable and will also help you to overcome line and insertion losses inherent in any antenna installation I also suggest a Channel Master 9521a rotator, which will help you zero-in on the Chattanooga stations, and will allow you to try for the Atlanta stations.
