Any advice for 28173? (Waxhaw, NC)

Postby remoteportal on Wed Dec 23, 2009 2:25 pm

We simply can't afford cable anymore and own two HDTV's. I think our covenants force us to put up antenna in attic.

Questions:
1) Is there an HDTV FAQ for Charlotte, NC?
2) What stations are available in Charlotte (both standard and HDTV)?
3) Are they good enough to warrant going through the work to set up an antenna system?
4) Is it better to buy an antenna or DIY/make yourself?
5) Are there any FAQs on how to start such a project?
6) Some channels are on UHV and some on VHS? Does that mean I need two different antennas?

Enter your specific information HERE: http://www.tvfool.com. That will show you which stations are available to you, in which direction they lie from your house, and how far away they are. Your TV transmitters from Charlotte are grouped in different antenna farms separated by about 35 degrees from your location. All but one PBS station is on UHF. I have a specific suggestion that should work well for you, and is not expensive, but you need to mount it on the roof to insure that it will work properly. Please read this fuling from the FCC about mounting antennas on the roof of your house first:
