Antenna Setup for 45039

Postby nodeal117 on Mon Feb 15, 2010 4:03 pm

I was wondering if someone would be able to recommend a hardware setup for me. I've been doing some research, but I'm kind of just getting more confused.

Here's the link to my signal analysis report:

And here's what I'm trying to do:

1. Reliably pick the Cincinnati networks (~25 mi SW of my location)
2. Keep the antenna in the attic, if possible
3. Run the signal to multiple TVs (2-3)
4. Dayton channels are a nice-to-have (~25 N of my location)

In addition to the antenna, what other kind of amplifier / splitter would I need to distribute the signal to multiple points?

Thanks!

Boy, I hate attic installations! The results are very unpredictable: if you have HVAC ducting, foil-backed insulation, aluminum siding or stucco exterior on your house, I can guarantee that you will have issues getting reception. Even conventional clapboard siding and shingle roofing will cut the signal to your antenna by 50%. if you are willing to roof-mount your antenna, you WILL get everything that you are looking for. Since you are mid-way between Cincinnati and Dayton, you should be able to see both cities equally well, but you will need to rotate your antenna in order to get both cities. All of the dayton channels are on UHF, but Cincinnati has channels 10 and 12, VHF-high-band stations operating, so you will need a VHF-high-band plus UHF antenna plus a rotator to see both Cincinnati and Dayton.

My suggestion would be to roof-mount a Winegard HD-7696p along with a good rotator like a Channel Master 9521a, which will allow you to easily move the antenna betwen the cities.. Run the coax cable from the antenna to a central point in your house where you can add a distribution amplifier (AC power should be available) and use a Channel Master CM3414 , which will power 4 TV sets, then run the cables from the amp to each TV set. You'll see more TV than you can possibly imagine with that combination.
