Antenna Selection

Postby tmn814 on Sat Jan 03, 2009 1:14 pm

I would like to purchase an outdoor antenna that would feed directly into my DirecTV HD-DVR box. My current antenna (purchased at Radio Shack) does not provide strong enough signal for the box, so the antenna must be fed into my tv directly. I live in zip code 16506, just west of Erie, PA. All towers are less than 10 miles from me, but there appear to be both UHF and VHF signals. I would prefer a single antenna rather than two separate ones for UHF and VHF. We also get much snow and wind, so I need something to hold up to our weather (my current antenna was not strong enough to make it through the current winter as two of the limbs are bent).

Thanks in advance for your help.

All of your signals are very strong in your area, so you just need a good antenna and good wiring. Use a Winegard HD-7694HD VHF high-band +UHF antenna, and all of your stations should come in perfectly.Aim the antenna at about 100 degrees from your location. Check your coaxial cable connections very carefully, and replace any cable that is 2 or more years old with new RG-6 coaxial cable.
