FM Antenna selection advice for home

I am looking for an objective source of performance comparison data for FM antennas for outdoor rooftop installation. For picking up a specific frequency, 88.9 MHz, how do we know which antenna will perform the best, given the location and the height of the installation are fixed quantities?

Alternatively, without objective performance data, does anyone have a recommendation as to which antenna is a good choice, and could you substantiate why?

First of all, where are you and which station are you trying to get? The same rules apply for radio that apply for TV.
