Antenna recommendations

Postby jljoutdoors on Wed Apr 14, 2010 1:18 pm

Hi -

I am having trouble picking up digital TV channel transmissions in the Fridley MN 55421 area (University Ave. & Mississippi street). Most of the TV transmitters are in Shoreview MN; which is < 8 miles away. I have tried a couple cheap indoor antenne'a, but can't seem to pick up
anything? I did live in the southern Minneapolis metro area previously; which is many miles away from the TV transmitters.
But, though the signal was bad - I was at least able to pick up a couple stations.

Want to stay with an indoor antenna if possible, but will change to an outdoors model if that is the only option. This is
a single story home with a few large trees in the area. If an external antenna is the only option; would like recommenadtion on models.

Thanks,

Jerry

Does your TV set have digital reception capability? If it does, you should be able to install an AntennaCraft HBU-22 on the roof aimed at the Shoreview transmitters and get all the MSP stations once your tuner has been scanned properly. If you don't have digital reception capability, you will need with either a digital converter, or, if you have an HDTV, you will need an HDTV tuner. You can never depend on an indoor TV antenna to give you reliable TV reception.
