Antenna Recommendation

Postby mtehonica on Mon Sep 19, 2011 2:19 pm

Hi Guys,

I need help choosing an antenna for my setup. I want to be able to ditch cable since I usually only watch the main channels anyways. The antenna will have 2 HDTV's connected, roof mounted about 10-11 feet off the ground. Here is my tvfool report: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapp ... a9b5556da7

Someone recommended an Antennacraft u4000. Would anyone else second that recommendation or have any alternate advice? What about the Channel Master 4228HD?

Thanks in advance!

I know that a guy on another forum recommends the U4000, and it may work if you keep the rear reflector elements folded up so they allow signals from front and back equally well. I have not tried this approach, and I am dubious, but it may be worth a try for you, since you are about half-way between Syracuse and Utica. I would aim the antenna in an east-west orientation with the rear (reflector) elements folded vertically so they don't block rear signals. if oyu plan to run more than obe TV set from this antenna, you will probably need a preamplifier, and I would consider a Winegard HDP-269 for that purpose.
