Antenna Reception?

Postby jjsgal on Sun Jan 03, 2010 5:13 pm

I currently have satellite reception. I live in 37664 zip code. Does anyone have digital antenna in this area? If so, please advise reception.

Thanks.

Per TVFool.com it looks pretty good based just on your zip.
They in all directions though.

I checked out tvfool and thought the same thing. We only want to connect 2 TV's upstairs to antenna and leave downstairs TV with satellite. Husband feels new cable would have to be run to connect tv's to antenna and would be more trouble than it's worth. Any idea on this?

You definitely need cable run to each TV set in order to use an antenna. If you currently have satellite run to these rooms, you can use the abandoned satellite cable to transmit the antenna signal to the TV sets, however.

I also live in 37664 and am seriously looking at antenna service as I am sick of paying exorbitant rates to cable and satellite companies. What recommendations do you all have re antenna types, reception experienced and need for a pre amp. According to the computers I live in several reception areas red green and blue/violet. Do I need two dirctional or one omni? Thanks for any help advice

I live in TN on top of a mountain with an HD antenna I bought from ebay on a 40' tower. My reception is great. The antenna weighs 2 pounds. As the crow flies, I am past the 70 mile mark to Knoxville, Nashville and 60 to Chattanooga. I get over 90 channels; Nashville, northern Georgia, Knoxville and north of Knoxville and Chattanooga. As in many parts of Tennessee, you really need to look at a topo map. Bing can provide you a 3D elevation of your location and you can manipulate the map to see the high and low points around you. Move the cursor and it will tell you the elevations, If you're sitting in a hole, you'll have a problem. In your area you have a 1200+/- elevation near the water and 1500+/-on the ridges to the east. As time passes and antenna technology refines, I am sure there will be more efficient antennas.
