Antenna Newbie

Postby moprowi on Sat Jan 03, 2009 7:13 pm

Hi Folks,
Going to make the switch over to an antenna from Direct TV. In these times you have save somewhere. I live in Racine, Wisconsin , zip 53405. Would like a recomendation for an antenna. I am in between Milwaukee and Chicago, so I would like to be able to pick up broadcasts from both cities, which I believe will make it necessary for me to use a rotor.

Thanks , BR.

You are about 60 miles from Chicago and 35 miles from Milwaukee: both cities are available to you, but Chicago will be a little tougher to get. I would suggest using my deep-fringe digital prescription: An antennasDirect XG-91 UHF antenna plus a Winegard YA-1713 VHF-high-band. Mount the two antennas on the roof, using a Channel Master Titan 7777 preamplifier to connect the two antennas together, and use a Channel Master 9521a rotator to turn the array between the two cities. You should be able to power up to 4 TV sets from this antenna system when using the preamplifier, and you'll see perfect digital reception from both cities.

Thank you for your reply. If I were to only want one antenna, could I use the Winegard HD-7697P an amplifier, and a rotor for the same affect?
Thanks , BR.

You can try it, but the combination that I suggested will work better and cost less...LOL Winegard is pricing the larger UHF-VHF-HI-BAND antennas pretty unrealistically, and you ALWAYS get better results with separate antennas...
