Antenna Input not working on HDTV

Postby teejay on Sun May 29, 2011 9:00 am

I have a 5 year old Toshiba DLP HDTV. I bought an RCA ANT537 amplified antenna with the TV. It is connected to Antenna 1 input via supplied 6' coax cable. I have seldom used it, but when I did, it worked fine for 12 to 16 channels in Greenville, SC suburbs, zip 29680. The channels I used to receive are some of the 4's, 7's, 13's, 16's, 40's, 62's, 65's. It's been several months since I last used it, but I haven't changed anything with TV setup except replacing a DVD player with a blu ray disc player that is linked to TV via HDMI - no apparent connection to the antenna problem. Recently, I've tried for several days to receive signals, but I'm only gettin 40-1,2 and 3 and 62-2 and 2. The other channels that I used to receve are found, but they all show "Weak Signal" warning displays on TV screen, no pictures. The TV set has an Antenna 2 jack, so I tried that one, with same result. I went to BestBuy and bought a non amp RCA TV111 rabbit ears type antenna that had decent reviews. I wanted to see if it would pick up anything, but also got same thing with it on either ANT1 or ANT 2. The coax cables are hardwired to the antenna boxes, so I can't replace them to check for bad cable. Had the antenna input not worked fine for several years, I would think I might not be in a good signal area, but that's not the case.

Any Ideas?
