Antenna Help NY Zip 12197

Postby Al366401 on Sun Jun 06, 2010 7:53 am

I live on a hill in hilly terrain. I am at about 1900 feet. I tried an indoor antenna and converter but got only 1 channel and that fadeds in and out. I am convinced I need to put antenna on roof. We get alot of ice and snow in winter. I use this as a summer home so I am thinking that I need to take the antenna down during winter months when I am not using house.
Does that make sense?
Now the real question is what type of outdoor antenna should I use? Should it be an amplified one? Should I also have a pre amp? From reading the forums I think a Winegard 7697P and a Channel Master Titan 7777 would work. I am about 60 miles from Albany ny and about 60 miles from Binghamton. 25 miles from Oneonta. What would be your reccomendation? Also do I need to have it grounded from possible lightning strikes? Thanks for your help!!!!!
