Antenna for Gatineau, QC Postal Code J8R3N2

Hi everyone,

Glad to have found this site.

I'm wondering if you can provide me with a recommendation for an antenna.

Here's my TVFOOL data: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapp ... 3e601f03ea

I'm obviously looking to get only HD channels. Wondering what's the best to get only Canadian channels in my region unless it might be possible to get some American channels.

I will connect 2 TV's to start with possibly one more in the near future.

The Ottawa-Gatineau TV stations come from 2 different transmitting locations: Camp Fortune is about 10 miles west of your location, and the Herbert's Corners Tower (also known as the Rogers Tower) lies about 20 miles south-east of your location. Given where you are, I wouldn't expect to get any American channels on a regular basis where you are, although some people in Gatineau can see WNPI, the PBS stations from the Canton-Norwood area. Your best bet is a two-antenna, two cable antenna system: one that will have an all-channel antenna aimed at Camp Fortune, since channels 6. 9 and 13 plus some UHF stations broadcast from there, and a UHF-only antenna aimed at the Roger's tower, as there are only UHF transmitters operating from that location.

I would use an AntennaCraft HD850 mounted on your roof, aimed at 280 degrees(Camp Fortune) and an AntennaCraft MXU-59 aimed at 180 degrees (Rogers Tower) Run an RG-6u coaxial cable from each antenna into an inside location in your house such as an attic or basement, then use 2 coax splitters, one splitter connected to the coax cable running from each antenna, run one cable from each splitter to each TV location in your house, so that you will have a lead from each antenna going to each TV location. Install an RF A/B switch at each TV set, and connect the antenna cables to the A/B switch, then run a cable from the output of the A/B switch to the antenna connector of your TV set or digital converter. Then you'll have to scan for stations, and everything should come in fine when you are done.
