I live in the Sacramento area at 95616 and most of the local stations are at roughly 127 degrees ranging between 25 and 27 miles away. I have a 42" Shart Aquos TV and currently use it to watch TV through a DISH satellite system, which is still using the analog technology. I want to get an outdoor digital antenna for my local HDTV stations with the following restrictions:
- I need a small footprint on the antenna. Something like a Winegard 7698P will not do as the trees in my neighbor's yard will break the antenna in the wind. I have been looking at the MS-1000. I have no sense about whether my conditions require a directional or whether the suggested omniidirectional antenna will perform just as well.
- I have read about signal loss with splitters. My roof antenna would be roughly 60' away from the Sharp HDTV. I want to add a splitter at roughly 20' so I can also send a digital signal to my computer (Windows XP Media Edition.) I can currently get a signal on the computer for my DISH signal.
So....questions:
Will the MS-1000 do the trick? If not, is there another antenna that has a small footprint that will work for me?
Do I need an amplifier or will the antenna provide sufficient signal strength to both TV locations?
If I need an amplifier, how much amplifiaction do I need and where do I put it?
Thank you, thank you to all the tech savvy folks who can offer suggestions regarding my plight
