antenna advice for zip 95129

I live near Miller and Rainbow in San Jose, CA 95129. It's a one-storied single family home. My trusty indoor rabbit ear antenna that was acceptable a few miles north of here catches only a few signals here. Which setup would you recommend?

The area is not heavily forested. It is typical suburbia with a mixture of all-sized trees. There are no tall buildings or towers within 3-4 blocks. Mostly single-storied homes, with some 2-storied one.

I plan to run 1 HDTV from the antenna system. No digital converter needed.

I can mount the antenna on the roof or in the attic. No HOA problems.
