Antenna Advice for 27403, large trees

Postby karlagso on Fri Apr 01, 2011 10:26 am

I'm not sure I know what I'm getting into here, but I'm looking into getting an HDTV antenna. I'm in GSO, NC 27403, 2 story Cape. the Geo Selector picked AntennasDirect V21 which, from the reviews, sounds huge. I'm not sure how to go about installing anything that large. I'm tired of the TWC ripoff, can't get satellite as trees obstruct the Southern exposure and am looking to save money over the long run. Is an HDTV antenna a reasonable option? It looks like the antenna itself is reasonable, but what all do I need to install? Is there a smaller, better option? Thanks for your help!

AntennasDirect V21 is a good antenna, but buying it without a need for low VHF reception does not make sense.

If you will be satisfied with Greensboro and Burlington stations (and there are quite a few of them), then you can probably get away with a much smaller and perhaps even an indoor antenna. But for WUNL, WUVC and WXII you'll need a descent mid-range UHF section - AntennaCraft HBU33 comes to mind ... there are other options too
