Antenna advice for 20740

Postby pstanger on Thu Aug 19, 2010 11:41 am

Hi there,

I just moved to the DC metro area and am looking to get antenna TV service. I know that I'm close to DC and Baltimore I'm just not sure which antenna would be right for my location. I'm living in a single story house in a suburban neighborhood with a fairly dense amount of trees surrounding me. Any help would be appreciated :)

Zip was in the title, but full address is

9702 51st Pl
College Park, MD 20740

I think I did the TVFool plot but I really have no idea what I'm looking at.

Baltimore and DC will both be pretty easy with a good antenna and a rotator. I would use a Winegard HD-7696P or an AntennaCraft HBU-44 mounted on your roof along with a good rotator like a Channel Master 9521a or an AntennaCraft TDP-2. Once you get it all installed, you'll see more prgramming than you can possibly watch!

Yep, although I suspect the DC stations will come in just fine off the back of any any antenna pointed at Baltimore. I'd hold off on the rotor until that experiment is done.

TVfool is predicting a 2-edge diffraction to your Baltimore stations so you definitely have a terrain issue which many not be adequately accounted for in the calculation. My question then becomes "What does the last several hundred yards of signal path look like?"
