Advice Request - - CT

Postby wcbwcbwcb on Thu Jan 21, 2010 2:03 pm

I am looking for some advice on antenna selection. My coordinates are:

Latitude
41.730160 °
N 41 ° 43' 48.6"
41 ° 43.8096' (degree m.mmmm)

Longitude
-72.759550 °
W 72 ° 45' 34.4"
-72 ° 45.5730' (degree m.mmmm)

I live in a fairly wooded area and have a house to the south of me that is a bit higher than my own. I am assuming and willing to put a directional antenna up above my house but I live fairly close to a couple of towers which I think will result in a wide angle between signals. I am thinking I may need a combination of antennas to get coverage for the major networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX and PBS). I would like to feed four Televisions.

Thanks,

Bill

You look like you are in either West Hartford or Newington, and in any cane, you are close to the transmitters. You won't want a rotator if you are feeding 4 TV sets, so we will need to use multiple antennas to ccomplish what you need for reception.

Wiht the exception of WTNH, which is in digital channel 10, all of your stations are on UHF, and I believe that we can use one antenna to pick up both sets of ttransmitters, from both Avon Mountain and Rattlesnake Mountain. I would use a Winegard HD-4400 4-bay UHF antenna aimed at 280 degrees by your compass, which is right in the middle of the spread of the transmitters. I would also use a VHF high-band yagi for WTNH, like a Winegard YA-6713 or an AntennaCraft Y-5-7-13 aimed at 205 degrees. Combine the two antennas into one downlead by using a Pico-Macom UVSJ antenna joiner, and run the cable to a central location in the house where you should mount a Channel Master CM3414 splitter-amplifier. You will need to feed AC power to the amp, so be sure that AC power is available. From the splitter, run the cables to your individual TV sets. You should see all of your your major Ct stations, including ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS and CW. Cumberland Electronics on South Street in West Hartford should have what you need.
