Advice for CT User

Postby bnards on Wed May 05, 2010 8:42 pm

I live in Canton, CT (06019) and am lookinng for advice on a good TV antennae. We live in a ranch style home with many tall trees along our property. The TV is an Olevia. I'm not worried about mounting options as we have plenty of roof to work with.

Looking at the guide, it appears 1. ABC is going to be a challenge at about 50 miles away in New Haven, unless I am able to pick up MA stations. 2. a Terk HDTVo may be a good choice.

Any advice, pros, cons, etc is appreciated.

Don't use an HDTVo! it has an amplifier that will overload on the stations located on Avon Mountain! To get everything available to you, including WTNH and WCTX from New Haven, I suggest using a VHF-high-band plus UHF antenna like a Winegard HD-7696P mounted on our roof along with a rotator like a Channel Master 9521a. You have stations coming from 5 different tower locations: Avon Mountain, Rattlesnake Mountain in Farmington, Mad Mare Mountain in Hamden , and two different locations in the Springfield-Holyoke area: Provin Mountain in Agawam and Mount Tom in Holyoke. No single antenna without a rotator will manage to pull them all, but, with a rotator, you should see upwards of 20 different stations.
