Advice in Florida

I have a digital HDTV and wish to purchase an antenna. At present I am not hooked to any cable or satelite having just moved here. My zip code is 32159 Lady Lake. I live in a single story building with the rear of my home facing east across a lake, therefore no immediate buildings. There are some trees to the south and west of me about 250 yards away. I cannot install on the roof, so would install in attic. Can you advise on a suitable antenna etc to receive not only HD but also ordinary channels. Thank you, John

You are more than 50 miles from your TV stations, which are in Orlando. Mounting an antenna in an attic in Florida with those kinds of distances is likely to be a no-go. Why is it that you can't install your antenna outdoors? Do you own the home, or are you renting?

We own the home but we are not allowed to install a dish etc above the gutter or where anybody can see it, hence the reason we cannot install on the roof. This is a rule governed by "The Villages"

You homeowner's association is violating federal law by attempting to prevent you from installing a TV antenna: Please read this information from the FCC:

You NEED a roof-mounted antenna to get reliable TV reception in your location if you do not use a pay service.
