95758: Need an outdoor antenna...

Postby heyjoojoo on Wed Apr 28, 2010 3:44 pm

I live in a surburb of the Sacramento area, more precisely 10 miles south of Sacramento California. I need an outdoor antenna that I can use to pickup additional channels. I currently have two TVs I wish to connect this one antenna to. At some point I will need a third. Both TV's are HDTVs (Vizio). There are no other high structures (highrises, trees, etc.) nearby. It's just a surburb of single family dwelling homes.

I currently used the QuantumFX antenna (ANT-105) and I put it up outside but was surprised that I only gained 2 new channels. I've rotated and scanned... I thought I was going to at least pickup some other bay area channels. I thought so since I was able to get a few bay area stations like KQED, KRON, KTVU but 5% of the time on just a pair of indoor rabbit ears. So, I thought I would pickup these once I placed a real antenna outdoors. But nope.

The quantumFX antenna is mounted on the side of the roof and not up at the top of the apex of the roof.

Any ideas?

Sorry, laughing too hard at hearing that toy called a "real antenna" to be of much help right now.

While I'm recuperating, read the posts above that say "READ BEFORE POSTING"...

And please include a link to your TVfool plot...

Okay, okay, I know. I kind of figured this antenna might be too cheepie. But I didn't think that I would need anything special or anything with super dooper elements and so forth. And by the way, I read all of the "read before posting" messages. What other information do I need to include?

We're well familiar with that antenna, and we are not aware of anyone in the antenna business who would recommend it to you. If you are willing to post your TVFool.com report for your location, I am sure that we can give yu a good solution to your problems. If there is a specific station or stations that you are interested in receiving that you are not currently seeing, please let us know what it is, and we can come up with a prescription.
