| Summary: Unexpected clarity in my old TV sets - What an improvement | ||
| I bought the DTT901 model after reading the reviews. It lets me watch analog or HDTV by simply pressing a button. I was very surprised at the improvement in picture quality in the HD mode. I was glad I bought two of them before Circuit City went out of business in my area. I will likely buy another to convert my remaining TV rather than buying a new HDTV; why spend money when you can get about the same picture quality. | ||

| Summary: Well designed, easy to use and sensitive | ||
| After reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews on sites such as the AVSForum, I purchased two DTT-901s from our local K-Mart. They've been installed on our two TVs for a few months and work great! To start off with, the remote control is well laid out. It has every button you need for normal operation. No need to dig into the menu to find the signal meter! It also operates off of one AAA battery (included) and has an easily programmable TV Power button. The box itself takes all of ten minutes to set up. You plug in the antenna, audio/video out jacks and power, then power up, hit "next" a few times, wait for the channels to scan and volla! After the initial setup is done, I'd recommend going into the menu to turn off the four hour auto off timer, switch the audio to stereo and correct your DST settings (if necessary). If you have an antenna on a rotor, you might not get all available stations in the initial scan. In which case, re-orient your antenna (use TVFool.com to find the stations and compass headings) and then use the EZ-add option, which keeps your existing channels and also adds newly found ones. If you have extremely weak signals, the manual RF-Tuning feature (with a little help from your TVFool plot) can help you hunt for a signal. Signal wise, this is reputed to be one of the most sensitive converter boxes out there. While I've never used another box, I can attest to it's sensitivity. I was able to pick up a station 55 miles away in our basement in a valley with an ordinary set of rabbit ears (I use a big outdoor antenna on top of a hill). Using my outdoor antenna, I can get a solid lock on a station 85 miles away! The menu system good looking and easy to navigate through. The guide system works well, but only show the current program and the one right after it, even though some stations send out program data as far as a week. Note on negative reviews: I've seen a lot of 1 star reviews on this box, mainly because they didn't like the tech support from India of they clearly misunderstood the purpose of the converter. Any converter box, not matter how good is not a miracle cure for all your reception ills. Reception is impossible without an antenna. Also, some people are under the impression that the antenna doesn't really matter with DTV. The truth is, DTV is easier to receive than analog TV, but your still going to need a quality antenna system to receive a reliable signal. | ||

| Summary: VERY GOOD BOX | ||
| After reading reviews I purchased one. As one of the 'positive reviewers' stated you just hook it up, scan and go to the menu and personalize the settings. The only disappointment is the program guide - it only shows current and next program. To the 'negative reviewer', READ THE MANUAL! The OFF TIMER is default ON. The aspect ratio setting is CHANNEL specific, not generic. The one reviewer is correct in that the ratio SHOULD have been set to 4:3, but if the channel is broadcasting this ratio just set it to CROPPED and it will fill the entire screen. Overall, a very nice box. | ||

| Summary: Box is good but has some problems | ||
| The DTT901 is a good box but needs improvement. Phone help is in India so english is not the primary language very hard to understand. Remote control lettering is dark needs to have brighter lettering. The main problem is that Zenith fails to tell you the other digital devices can block signal. My Wife has the Laptop in the living room when we first installed the box the signal was great we had 7 HD channels. The signal seemed to work some days and not on others for two channels then one morning I turned the box on and was watching one of the channels and the signal was clear as a bell my Wife came in and turned on the laptop and the signal was gone. So I put two and two together and the signal problem was fixed. Up to now I thought we would have to invest hundreds of dollars in antenna upgrades to get local channels. We live so far out in the country we can not even get cable. So if you get this one just be aware of the signal problems | ||
