Lately we have been dealing with an increasing number of attempts to manipulate product rankings. Note: each person is allowed to post one and only one review for each product. Exceptions can be made only under special circumstances when the reviewer feels that his earlier review must be corrected.
We have a sophisticated manipulation detection system in place and we will not tolerate any attempt to game the system and mislead consumers and our visitors. We reserve the right to delete any review that we feel is misleading or inappropriate and do that at our sole discretion. Thanks for understanding.
Also, from now on we require all reviews to be at least 100 words long. Short reviews, such as "a piece of junk" or "works as advertised" are not very helpful. Consider specifying more details. Elaborate on your location, the equipment you are using, reception quality of specific channels in your area. Check the word counter at the bottom when writing.

| Summary: Don't like it | ||
| Very disappointed. It doesn't give you any options on selecting channels or adding other channels. Unable to watch my Satellite channels since it won't let me program channel 3 or 4. Wish I hadn't bought it. May take second one back to store and exchange it for a different brand, haven't taken it out of box yet. | ||

| I guess I\m the only one who likes this one. It is my fourth from a different maker and it is the best one. It pulls in channels better than the other 3. Cnet.com liked it also which is why I bought it. It does have analog passthrough by the way. I will also use a smart antenna with it. | ||

| Summary: Do not buy | ||
| I got this box at walmart in June of 2008 with a coupon I did not install it until Feb 2009 I was not pleased with the performance at all. You cannot manualy add channels, While surfing around the box will lock up on one channel and you have to wait 5-10 seconds before it will work again, sometimes the box will stop producing audio and you have to turn it off and back on again for it to work (like it needs to be rebooted), The remote is very delicate. | ||

| Summary: Purchased two units: one did not work at all: 2nd unit stopped afer 2-days | ||
| Purchased two RCA DTA800B in June 2008 from Walmart. (rebate expired in 90 days...right..so I hurried up and redeemed it) Didn't set the units up until December 2008 One unit wouldn't come out of standby mode. Second unit work for two days and then wouldn't come out of standby mode. Walmart would not exchange units. (claimed they couldn't get credit) I had all receipts. It would appear they had issues with these units. Called the 800 number for warranty at RCA. Customer rep said he would have his manager e-mail the return shipping instructions...which didn't happen. E-mailed RCA service on line concerning problem ...no response. Recalled 800 number and spoke with different customer rep who gave me return info shipping instructions. To date, I have yet to receive units back from RCA. Suffice it to say...RCA products are on my "not to buy" list. | ||

| Summary: do not buy these units | ||
| Previously I wrote a review concerning two RCA units that I purchase that were both defective and had to be returned to the service center in Buffalo, NY. It cost $13.00 in shipping to return the units for service under warranty. The units were actually replaced with a newer model. However, one of the units was again defective and would not turn on. The other unit continues to perform adequately. I still would not recommend RCA converters. These things probably cost them $5.00 to produce in China and they sell for $50.00. | ||
