Summary: Best one for sure
Not only does it perform well, it offers more features than other brands. Item: The DC power supply appears to be "twice converted", to save more energy and reduce heat build-up. PCs (home computers) change 60 Hz 120-volts to DC, then converts it to 33,000 Hz AC again, and then back to DC a second time. Results: Much smaller parts, and lot less power consumption. Techies know that's quite an invention done back in about 1980.

Insignia DXA1 Review #2
Rating: 5 (excellent) Nickname: JRB Date: 2009-07-10
Summary: Satisfied, Good Features
Used this box for over a year. Only stopped using it because we bought a new TV that has a digital HD tuner built in. Sets up easily and the remote works well (even powers on/off the TV). Signal feature is handy- one button access. The feature I miss the most is the channel guide that shows what program is showing on all (most) channels. Our new TV doesn\t do that! Picture quality was always excellent and only poor if reception was bad. Would be nice if the remote integrated more with the TV. All in all quite happy with this converter.

Summary: Insignia NS-DXA1-APT
The Insignia NS-DXA1-APT is a very good converter box, I didn't buy it from Amazon but thought that I would share a review of it. It has analog-pass-thru which works very well and is almost as if there is no box between the antenna and the tv. This will only be good until the February 17th 2009 switchover so is not a major deal to get excited about. It does a good job of displaying the digital channels and finding/recognizing them. I would recommend this converter box for anyone needing one. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that converter boxes should be able to be programmed like a VCR so that it could allow me to tape my shows when I'm not home. Of course, I haven't found any converter boxes that have a programming function and allow you to use your $40 government coupon on. I hope that this review will help someone looking for a good converter box.

Summary: TIVO compatible?
We have a Series 2 TIVO that we are told will not accept HD signals. TIVO customer service told us that by using a digital to analog converter, we can continue to use all the functions built into the TIVO. Has anyone reading this experienced positive results by connecting the two boxes in series with a TV?
