Buying an HDTV
November 20, 2008 – 11:36 am,If you’ve decided to upgrade to an HDTV there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, and most important, is that your HDTV will not automatically insure you HDTV programming. You must also have cable, satellite, or antenna. In some cases, you will also need a cable or satellite provider. Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s talk about the HDTV itself.
There are basically two types of HDTV sets. One is an integrated set which comes with a digital tuner. This is extremely convenient because if a station near you is broadcasting in HDTV, you’ll more than likely be able to pick up the transmission by installing a simple antenna. An HDTV ready set does not have a digital tuner. These televisions have a different type of tuner called an NTSC tuner which is capable of transmitting analog tv.
When you choose to commit to the HDTV experience you can do so by simply attaching an HDTV receiver. While using a “ready set” will not provide you with HDTV resolution in analog mode; it will still provide you with a higher quality picture. Most retailers are more than happy to show you the in’s and out’s of HDTV and will be pleased to aide in making the decision that’s right for you.
