Monster Cable Offering New Wireless Technology

Monster Cable has announced that it will now be offering a wireless transmitter for HDTV signals. This new transmitter will be capable of connecting the television of a home theater to a DVD player or digital signal box.

The wireless system being offered by Monster Cable is nothing more than a simple receiver that can be plugged into the HDMI port of the HDTV and a transmitter unit. The transmitter unit is able to hook up with the source of the signal and provide what the company is calling the Monster Digital Express HD. With this set up, the non-HD signals can also be upscaled to HD resolution. With the help of the ultra-wideband technology (UWB) developed by Sigma Designs, the wireless set-up is capable of transmitting video signals up to 30 feet away.

This isn’t the first time the UWB technology grabbed attention. In fact, Westinghouse displayed a television earlier this year that contained built-in UWB technology. With the help of this technology, the television was able to offer wireless HDTV streaming.

This won’t be the last consumers see of UWB technology or of other technologies along the same line. In fact, other companies are developing their own forms of wireless technology. This includes WirelessHD, which is faster, and Wi-Fi. Although Wi-Fi is less reliable than UWB, it is still less costly, which means it may be a better option for some consumers.

Those interested in the Monster Cable wireless system can start enjoying the technology starting this October. Currently, the company is pricing the technology at $300.
