SRS Labs has formed a partnership with three different HDTV manufacturers in order to integrate its TruSurround XT audio technology into their systems. These companies include Vizio, Sharp, and Syntax-Brillian.

According to reports, Vizio will be offering televisions with SRS TruSurround XT technology this quarter. Sharp, on the other hand, will be including the technology in its Aquos televisions in Asian and European markets. With Syntax-Brillian, the technology will become available in the Olevia televisions within the 2 series and the 6 series.

When speaking of the partnership with Vizio, the vice president of SRS’s marketing department, Allen Gharapetian, is quite excited by the possibilities it presents.

“We are excited about this new strategic relationship with one of the leading flat panel TV brands in the US,” said Gharapetian. “The combination of our innovative technology designs and the ability to customize TruSurround XT for optimum performance with Vizio products enables us to provide a great entertainment experience without any extra components, wires, or expenses.”

The TruSurround XT technology is capable of accepting input from an audio source of up to 6.1 while also processing a two-channel output. When the system receives multichannel content, it is able to virtualize the channels and create what is referred to as “phantom” speakers. In this way, the sound seems to go all around the listener and create an excellent theater experience.
