Canon Introduces New High Resolution Projectors

Canon has introduced a couple new digital multimedia projectors to the market: the Realis WUX10 and the Realis SX80. The WUX10 is particularly exciting because it utilizes WUXGA resolution, or 1920 x 1200, which is even better than what you will find on HDTVs. As such, this LCOS widescreen projector offers the highest resolution of any of the projectors currently manufactured by Canon.

The SX80 also has an impressive resolution of 1400 x 1050 and is also desirable because it is the first projector in the world to offer PictBridge connectivity, which allows for “PC free” presentations.

“We are seeing the world rapidly transitioning to high-resolution image display in every sector including HDTV, personal computers, DVDs and Web video, which raises the public’s image-quality expectations,” said Yuickh Ishizuka, who is the senior vice president and general manager of Canon. “For this reason, presentation professionals need high-resolution, widescreen, large-image display solutions that are affordable and compact.”

The new projectors are not cheap, however, as the SX80 comes with a price tag of $3,999 while the WUX10 costs $12,999.
