According to HD Guru, you might want to wait just a little while longer before you purchase a new HDTV. HD Guru claims that “industry source” have stated that Sony is planning to reduce its prices over the next month. Apparently, the company is disappointed by the fact that it is not in the number one spot in the HDTV wars. So, in an effort to regain the number one spot, the company is planning to drop its prices. Its 40” 1080p television the KDL-S4100, for example, is reportedly going to be dropped from $1699 to $1199.

Of course, the drop in Sony’s television prices will likely result in other television companies dropping their prices too. Therefore, it looks like May could be a good time to purchase a new HDTV if you wait until the price wars begin. Even if you aren’t wanting to pick up a Sony television, you should see a drop in the prices of other televisions that are already less costly than Sony.
