If you have been holding your breath waiting for Organic Light Emitting Diode, or OLED, televisions to become more available, you might not have to wait much longer. Anyone that has been keeping up with changes in television technology is well-aware that OLED televisions are capable of providing a clearer picture than DLP, LCD, and plasma while also lasting longer and being far lighter in weight. Yet, currently, the only OLED television you will find on the market is a very expensive 11 inch model offered by Sony

Just this past week, however, Samsung announced that it will be selling OLED HDTVs as well as OLED computer monitors by next year. The company also anticipates offering flexible OLED screens by 2010. Only a couple days after that announcement, LG also announced that it will be selling OLED monitors by 2011. That means you shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to get your hands on this technology. In addition, you can be certain that Sony will be doing whatever it takes to further improve its LED technology as well. In fact, only recently, the company was showing a prototype that is only one fifth of a millimeter thick.
