Creating a Digital Art Display
May 1, 2008 – 4:47 pm,Are you interested in including a digital art display in your home? The concept of using a television to rotate through works of art in digital format was once something that was only available to the rich. Bill Gates, for example, has a 22-foot-wide rear projection video wall in his home that rotates through historic photographs and works of art.
Today, you don’t have to be as rich as Bill Gates to still enjoy this creative technology. In fact, all you need is a computer, a high-def television and a cable to hook your computer to your television. You might have to play around a little with your computer in order to get the proper external-monitor display settings. But, once you do, you can have a continually changing work of art on your wall.
Getting pictures for your rotating piece of art is pretty simple too. GalleryPlayer, for example, offers free software for Windows and it only costs about $1 per piece of art you download. If you download your images in packages, you can actually pay less than $1 per image. This is a pretty good deal, particularly when you consider the fact that, when the business was first launched, it cost $3,000 to purchase the image server and than $195 per month to get your rotating images. If you have Comcast cable service, you can actually access GalleryPlayer and display it on your television without the need for a PC.
Of course, you don’t have to purchase your images. If you are a fan of digital photography, you can take your own photos and set up a screensaver to rotate through your images. Just make sure you set up your computer so the power never shuts down and your rotating digital art gallery will run 24/7.
