Understanding How HDTVs Bring You Excellent Picture Quality
March 25, 2008 – 3:12 pm,If you have made the upgrade to HDTV, you just might be wondering how HDTV is able to provide you with such a great picture when compared to your old system. Quite simply, HDTV is capable of providing a picture with a higher resolution. As a result, the image you see looks far clearer and more detailed.
In order to provide you with a higher resolution, HDTV utilizes more lines on the screen. By putting more lines on the screen, each of the pixels on the screen are smaller and placed more closely together. In fact, HDTVs are able to provider nearly double the number of lines found on conventional televisions. Older screens, for example, provide 625 lines while HDTVs can provide you with 1080 lines. As a result, the picture appears to be far sharper and provides a higher quality image.
Another benefit to a true HDTV is the fact that it picks up a digital signal, which further improves the quality when compared to an analog signal. Since a digital signal is transmitted as a series of zeros and ones, the external factors that disrupt analog signals are removed. For example, the quality of analog signals depends upon the weather, the placement of the antenna, and the quality of the television. With these factors eliminated, digital signals can travel over a longer distance without have a degradation of the signal.
With digital technology, the sound and the video can be recorded and sent digitally. Combine this technology with the increased number of pixels found in HDTVs and the result is a truly amazing picture quality.
