Introducing Sony’s New 2008 Television Models
February 26, 2008 – 11:27 am,Sony has announced a new lineup of televisions for 2008. The fact that the company is moving away from rear projection televisions should come to know surprise, as the company had already announced it was working toward getting out of that market. Nonetheless, the new lineup of television still took many people at the Consumer Electronics Show by pleasant surprise.
Sony is continuing with its highly successful Bravia series. As such, they are taking their Bravia models to a whole new level this year. All of these new LCD televisions will be HDMI-CEC, or Bravia Sync, capable. Many of the new televisions will also come equipped with 120Hz technology, which Sony is referring to as MotionFlow.
Sony is also introducing something completely new for this year: the DmeX, or Digital Media Extender. This new technology will be a plug in for televisions with the proper set up and will make it possible to add modules as new technologies become available.
Sony also introduced the OLED, or Organic Light Emitting Diode, television in the United States. This is Sony’s first leap into the OLED market and its first model offers an 11 inch display. This display measures just 3mm and offers a resolution of 960×540. It also has a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. If you are hoping to get your hands on one of these TVs, you will have to hit Sony Style stores and pay $2,500. So, unless you have money to burn, you might want to wait before making a purchase.
