Silicone Image Reveals Two New Receivers
January 21, 2008 – 2:37 pm,Silicone Image Inc introduced two interesting new receivers at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show. Both are capable of providing consumers with HDMI 1.3 HDTV features , which includes 1080p Deep Color as well as x.v.Color expanded color. One of these new receivers, the Sil9223 four-port receiver, is an integrated receiver that is capable of supporting the Mobile High-Definition Link that is also being offered new from Silicon Image. With the help of the new Mobile High-Definition Link and the receiver, you can connect camera phones and digital cameras to your HDTV in order to view it in high definition.
Silicon Image is also introducing the Sil9127 two-port receiver, which can also be easily integrated into HDTV designs that are currently on the market. With the help of the autoboot feature that is included with both of these receivers, you don’t need to have to initialize an external microcontroller to improve the time to picture power. These receivers also utilize a software application programming interface, or API, which is capable of providing framework to help reduce the development time of the firmware. In addition, both models are capable of supporting 10-bit as well as 12-bit Deep Color depths.
If you are worried about power issues, you can rest easy with the Sil9223 and the Sil9127. Both utilize power management schemes with “power islands” that help guarantee low standby power consumption. With these power islands, the EDID and CED functions are isolated so only the minimum necessary circuitry consumes power.
Another perk to these new devices is the fact that they both have Consumer Electronic Control functionality as well as integrated Extended Display Identification Data. With the help of the Consumer Electronic Control functionality, the company can add control and command functions that can alter the way the receivers behave within a system. It also makes it possible for you to control several different CEC-enabled devices with one remote. Since the receivers use such low power, it can work with just 5V HDMI cable power from devices such as game consoles, DVD players, and set-top boxes.
